PSALMS 27

PROBLEMS WITH FAITH

1. WHAT THE PSALMIST THOUGHT

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” - Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)

“The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?... Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” - Psalms 27:1,3 (NIV)

2. WHAT THE PSALMIST SAID

“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” - Psalms 27:4 (NIV)

3. WHAT GOD SAID TO THE PSALMIST

“My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. - Psalms 27:8 (NIV)

4. WHAT THE PSALMIST TOLD HIMSELF

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” - Psalms 27:13-14 (NIV)

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” - Romans 5:1-5 (NIV)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
