FACING YOUR FEARS

“Facing Your Fear of Your Child’s Future”

Pastor Duane Cross | 10.19.14

“So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “All right,” he told them, “go and worship the Lord your God. But who exactly will be going with you?” Moses replied, “We will all go—young and old, our sons and daughters, and our flocks and herds. We must all join together in celebrating a festival to the Lord.” Pharaoh retorted, “The Lord will certainly need to be with you if I let you take your little ones! I can see through your evil plan. Never! Only the men may go and worship the Lord, since that is what you requested.” And Pharaoh threw them out of the palace.” Exodus 10:8-11 (NLT)

FOUR STEPS TO MAKING DISCIPLES

Step #1: Get help!

“Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good. It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his loved ones.” Psalm 127: 1-2 (NLT)

Step #2: Know your purpose

“Children are a gift from the Lord; babies a reward. Children who are born to a young man are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.” Psalm 127: 3-4

Step #3: Take responsibility for the spiritual formation

“You, your children, and your grandchildren must respect the Lord your God as long as you live. Obey his rules and commands I give so that you will live a long time... Then all will go well for you and you will become a great nation in a fertile land...” Deuteronomy 6:2-3

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. Always remember these commands I give you today. Teach them to your children and talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Step #4: Never give up
