REMOVE THE LOG

“Rudeness on the Rampage”

Pastor Duane Cross | 08.24.14

I. Rudeness is unrighteous.

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31 (NIV)

*God was never rude.

“This is what the Lord says: ‘Don’t let the wise boast in thier wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in thier riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!’” Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NLT)

“Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?” Romans 2:4 (NLT)

*Jesus was never rude.

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (NLT)

II. Rudeness is unredemptive.

“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” Colossians 3:12-14 (NLT)

III. Rudeness is unrewardable.

“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.” Luke 6:35-36 (NLT)

“Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked to hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.” 2 John 1:8 (NLT) “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.” Revelation 3:11 (NLT)
