VISION ON THE MOVE

“Serving... ”

Pastor Duane Cross | 01.27.2013

“We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others.” I Peter 4:10 (NIV)

“Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life.” Matthew 20:26 (LB)

1: Serving like Jesus means being available.

“Never tell your neighbors to wait until tomorrow if you can help them now.” Proverbs 3:28 (TEV)

Common barriers to being available:

1st Barrier: self- centeredness

2nd Barrier: perfectionism

“If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get any thing done.” Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NLT)

3rd Barrier: materialism

“No servant can serve two masters, you cannot serve both God and money” Luke 16:13 (NIV)

II. Serving like Jesus means being grateful

“Serve the Lord with gladness.” Psalm 100:2 (KJV)

III. Serving like Jesus means being grateful

“Throw yourselves into the work of the master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.” I Corinthians 15:58 (MSG)

WHAT DID YOU DO WITH WHAT I GAVE YOU?

“Well done, good faithful servant, you have been faithful with a few things so I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew. 25:21 (NIV)
