“The Gift of Peace”

Pastor Duane Cross | 12.02.2012

THE GIFT OF PEACE

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

“People are crying ‘peace and safety’, yet destruction will come upon them.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.” (John 14:27)

I. PEACE IS from God.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” Isaiah 9:6-7(NIV)

II. PEACE IS from us.

“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” --St. Francis Assissi

III. PEACE IS from within you.

“Peace be within you” (Psalms 122:8)

“All the works of love are works of peace...we do not need bombs and guns; we need love and compassion...let us learn that unless we are full of God, we cannot give that love, we cannot give that peace to others.” --Mother Teresa
