Matthew's Crossing Food Bank

Our Mission

Uniting our community in the fight against hunger by providing food and basic necessities to our neighbors in need. COMPASSION • DIGNITY • HOPE

Matthew's Crossing is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Under the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, also known as the Working Poor Tax Credit, households have the opportunity to reduce their direct tax liability when they give back to qualifying non-profits in the community. When you make a charitable contribution to Matthew’s Crossing, a working poor charitable organization, you may be eligible to receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits in the amount of your contribution (up to $200 for single people and $400 for married couples).

Our History

From its humble beginning of serving 800 people in its first year, Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank currently serves 63,000 individuals (2015). This is done through the help and dedication of over 300 volunteers working to fulfill its mission.

How can you get involved?

Go directly to Matthew’s Crossing website: www.matthewscrossing.org where you will find information on volunteering (there are many ways in which one can help out from sorting food, to picking up and delivering food, to feeding children their evening meals at the Food Bank, computer work, helping with their annual Gala in April, and more!) Volunteers welcome from age 12 and up! (Guardian required with children from 12-18 years of age) Great way to have family time!

Also on the website is listed the items in need. There are nonfood items as well as food items that are in continuous demand. Special note here.... cereal, peanut butter, and canned fish or meat is ALWAYS needed and often times in slim supply.

How can you get involved at HOPE?

Volunteers needed to bring food donations to Matthew’s Crossing each week (this is on a rotating basis).

Help organize Food Drives, handing out flyers as needed on Sunday mornings, help to come up with genius ideas on raising funds, awareness and food. And simply just bringing in food to Hope and placing it in the bin in the front entry way where it will be gathered and then transported to the Food Bank.

Thank you for your interest in this Ministry!
